Ricolaser -
You need to understand that you are being played with by entities whose sole purpose in their 'lives' is to scare.

They cannot really hurt you, but you can hurt yourself if you let your fear runaway.

Practice this several times before you do it for real. Look at the entity square in the eyes, Steel yourself. Tell it to its ugly face that it is funny looking. Then laugh like you are watching something hilarious. Practice first. Steel yourself. Laugh. It cannot hurt you!

Let me know what happens.

Janet

sorry, richbo.

I am not sure if I explained this clearly at the end of my last post- the ghosts were 9 kids, father, etc. not that it is important, I guess. sorry to hear about the little girl in your closet, rico. it isn't easy to live with (especially when there's a Brady bunch of them). night terrors. when you wake up in the middle of the night and cannot move, then see a "shadow man" walk out of nowhere and send fear and adrenaline into your stomach like it was turning on a faucet. I've been trying to think of the word for it all week, but wasn't able to until now. I had a little problem with that for years and years. I haven't been much of a sleeper since. gives me plenty of time to write. has anybody read Dante's Inferno?

Hi Psichick:

I was very young and always afraid of the dentist. My mother went with me as we sat the crowded waiting room. The dentist called us in next for my scheduled tooth extraction. Mom went with me.

Novacane or gas was his question? Gas I responded. I was terrorfied as he put a rubber cup over my nose an mouth and said breathe deeply and count backwards from ten.
Mom was holding my hand.

Ten, nine, eight, seven.....six.........

There was a dark tunnel with light at the end. It was peacefull....

I was now floating in the air above the dentist and could see my Mom watching the dentist extract my molar tooth. I was outside of my body blissfully observing those below. It was peaceful.

I saw my mother panic! What's the matter? What's the matter? she asked the dentist.

Probably gave him too much gas he responded.
My mother was crying, the dentist was slapping my face trying to revive me. I felt nothing but peace observing all of this from above.

Next I heard a BLOOD CURDLING SCREAM!

YYYHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

It was my scream as I re-entered my body.

The dentist said he was sorry. Mom and I returned to the waiting room which was now empty. Mom laughed as she saw that his waiting patients fled after hearing my scream. You scared them all away, she said.

It was many years later after studying many other peoples out of body experiences that I realized how fortunate I was to have experienced this other dimension.

My conclusions:

I was dead, and I came back!

I know that the other side is a peaceful place. I know there is existance outside the body. I know there is another life beyond our present one. I know that you do not die you just move on to another dimension.

I now understand that the "Mind" or "Soul" for lack of better words continue.......after the body is of no further use to us.

Knowing the above makes me the content and happy person that I am.

I heard banging noises (like a car backfiring) and went to investigate. There was an electrical box attached to a telephone pole, near a bank next door to my apartment building, and I floated in front of it. As I did, I saw a bullet go straight through my 'body' and ricochet off the box. I turned around and saw a young man in a trenchcoat with a gun. He did not react to me. The next thing I knew I was in bed, waking up. When I told my sister about it later, she told me I was right -- the police arrested a young man in a trenchcoat, caught doing just what I saw in my 'dream.'

Another time, after failing to astral travel consciously (still can't do it), I remember the part where I was traveling back to where my body was through a tube (my silver cord). I saw the colorful pattern of the couch I had fallen asleep on, then my body. I don't remember actually entering my body, though.

My mother once remembered leaving her body. She had been traveling all day and night to get home. When she finally hit the bed, she immediately left her body (her essense was sucked out of it). Then she went through the roof and saw the rising sun!!

I love that you had this out-of-body experience and were okay afterward. And you remember screaming, huh? Do you remember how you felt? I was given too much 'something' when I had an operation as a child, and as I started to fade away down a dark tunnel, I saw the face of my doctor (he had black hair, bushy eyebrows and black eyes - a little scary to a child) spin around and around and go farther and farther away from me as I backed up through this tunnel. I found out later he was the one who was scared! HA HA!

Hi Psicheck:

The spinning around part is intreresting.
The more data we can collect the more of a research data base we have accomplished.

Great!

Hi Psichick:

Looks like you might have had a simular experience. The spinning around part is quite interesting. The tunnel of course is witnessed by many with out of body experiences.

It is certainly worth collecting these experiences in a data base where those interested can compare experiences. If you have an interest in being part of a Forum to pursue details of extra-sensory perception, send your e-mail address to:

Satire@WriteMe.com

Thank you,

Satire.

Perception doesn't count as reality. Even if a million people perceived the same things, those are subjective interpretations.

I can personally name more than a few "amazing" experiences in my life - but yet I don't feel the need to credit them to anything but chance and circumstance, and certainly not to supernatural occurences.

In fact, it's only my perceptions of the experiences that are different from what you people claim. And this claim is backed up in seeing the numerous responses and claims of association with such beliefs. In other words, people really want to believe an amazing superficial importance and meaning behind every little event in their lives, and they want everyone else to believe their perceptions.

You're all made of physical parts, and you never escape your body, regardless of your beliefs - because your beliefs also stem from the same brain where you store these amazing perceptions and feelings.

This thread is not "research data" or proof of anything, except what you want to believe. I will confess that this thread, similar to any religious gathering, is an expression of extraordinary emotions and needs to believe in something so desperately. People of similar interests seek each other out, because, quite frankly, misery loves company. You don't feel you can back these claims on your own and it depresses you, so you seek others who have these same wants/needs and that makes it seem okay to keep believing.

Am I here to personally tear you down? No, just to bring a little rationality into the picture and hopefully make some you realize that PERCEPTION has more to do with this than anything else.

Hi Psichick:

Roman appears upset that we are collecting data on this subject. He is hung up on perception by his own physical senses.

Can his physical senses see his mind? Of course not. Should we then conclude that he does not have a mind because he can not see his mind? Of course not.

Extrasensory perception is a subject he might pursue to gain insight.

This is a fascinating string. Thank you Isabel.

I too have had experiences which would be considered extraordinary. It seems that we are indeed capable of higher spiritual existence than we are led to believe.

Roman74, you stated: "...You're all made of physical parts, and you never escape your body..." Wrong.

Proof: just re-read the sentence you wrote. If you have a body, WHO IS IT that has that body? If you "never escape your body..." WHO is it that never escapes it? You have made that distinction in your own sentence, Roman74.

And you were right. You are NOT your body. It isn't your body that's looking at the computer screen or the tree or sunset. It's YOU.

You don't "have" a soul. You ARE a soul. If you say that you have a soul, I'll ask: WHO IS IT that has that soul?

It's psychiatrists and psychologists who would have us believe that we are just a body and our behavior is dictated by some combination of chemicals. WHAT A CROCK!!!

Proof: just read this string.

The ego, or Id, is self-contained in the body. It's the ego that we're referring to here - the emotional identity that at once controls the body and wants to soar above it. Even your brain, where the ego is housed, is made of physical parts and THIS EGO never escapes the body, no matter how much it wants to.

Damn, you people are dumb.

This is another one of the dumbest things I've read here, and I wish I could say this person was being naive on purpose.

This person obviously fails to acknowledge the psychological needs he/she has in reference to these so-called extrasensory and out-of-body perceptions. Little does this person know that the mind and all its intricasies are encased in the brain hardware and they never escape the body. All of these feelings in fact, are entirely self-contained PERCEPTIONS of the physical parts. In fact, the physical parts of the brain, when malfuctioning, have been known to produce these same kinds of "feelings", so none of these testimonies are very much extraordinary or unique.

And its also very obvious that due to the insecurity issues that has led this person to believe in such things, they will also not confront the objectivism of what he/she claims to experience. These perceptions, of course, are not a phenomenons at all, but just over-dramatic responses to want he/she wants to believe.

By the way, I thought that line about me being upset about the collection of imaginatory stories was very funny. I am neither upset or frightened by people's imaginations. I simply think that your time can be used in more productive ways.

Rico Laser-

I thought I made it very clear that the posts on this page were dumb, not the people themselves. These people are insecure and searching for some kind of meaning, but they only project themselves in very dumb ways.

I've said it many times here that there are better, reliable explanation out there, if people only invested a little more time in research, and less time in imaginative hysterics.

jkelley-

I've been posting for longer than 3 days, and I made it very clear earlier why I'm bothering to take the time to get through to these people. You can go back and read the earlier posts if you like, but the bottom line is that these people settle for convenient, and rather ignorant explanations for things, rather than taking the time to do serious research.

Ignorant opinions spurn more ignorant opinions. I want to share this world with more responsibly-minded people. If this means I have to take a few minutes out of my day to make this happen, it's well worth the effort for me.

Thanks for asking, though.

"Damn, you people are dumb".

That's what you said. Not "Damn, these opinions are dumb". Not "Damn, religion is dumb". Not "Damn, logic and reason are awesome and imaginative hysterics are dumb". Any of those statements I could at least sort of respect. But you didn't say anything like that. You said WE were dumb. Just another example of your highminded, arrogant pretentiousness disguised as intelligent debate.

It's Christmas (or as you so diplomatically put it, "Mythmas") so I'm not going to let it bother me. Just try to think before you speak, because I think everyone here will agree with me when I say that you did NOT make your statement very clear.

Have yourself a Merry Christmas, friend, and I hope the New Year brings you peace, joy ... and knowledge of tolerance.

Hi Isabel-Feliz Navidad, estoy una scorpia tambien!

Roman--I'm drunk AND blond, but I have a question for you: crank your little Spock ears up, OK?

What is your true purpose? Since most people on the board disagree with you, and you seem to be failing miserably at "converting" their beliefs, what do you hope to gain?

And...why do you care? If you don't respect their opinions, and they aren't (presumably) making your car payments or anything, what's it to you if they believe that Santa Claus really did come down their chimmney, and eat those damn cookies? How could it possibly, LOGICALLY, affect your life?

Robert Heinlen said, "One man's religion is another man's belly laugh." Since you obviously agree...could you please explain why you keep on whipping his dead pony?

What do you stand to gain?
