Ben. We just watched you on Inside the Actors Studio. We actually taped it. If you are still around, I am looking to be an actor too, and I am working toward it through screenwriting. It is fucking tough, but yours and Matt's story give me hope. Thanks for that, and the opportunity to be in this contest.

Actually I hadn't tried to get an agent yet, and it didn't occur to me that age would be a big factor. I'm more worried that I am from Iowa and their is no opportunity around here.

In this month's CREATIVE SCREENWRITING Michael Addis tells of writing a screenplay with Tony Urban, a teenager in Pennsylvania, completely via e-mail and Instant Messages. Age and region don't have to be an excuse.

One should not wish the days away until they are 21. A wise old drag queen I once knew told me that after 21, there is nothing to look forward to until retirement. Enjoy your youth while it is still yours to enjoy.

you're the youngest I've met filmann. In half a year I'll be 20. That is impressive of you at a young age to write a screenplay. Good luck.

Actually I live in Iowa. Hard to find anything here. I'm looking to go to LA next fall. I've been looking at colleges. I'm really interested in acting, but I think that my way in is through screenwriting. And if it doesn't work that way, I'd be just as happy as a screenwriter. I have tons of ideas. I've researched a lot though and I know of people and places to send to. I even have a connection to Ron Howard. So I guess I am going to give it a shot. What about you. What are your plans?

I am currently preparing to move to LA within the next month. I will be attending USC Film school. I'm not certain I want to stay there the whole four years though. Like any young soul I am as ambitious as you are and just want to get out there. Good luck with everything you do. Hollywood is in desperate need of some new blood.

That's interesting. USC is on my list of schools that I've been narrowing down. I also relate to the fact that you just want to go out there. I've had days where I just wanted to leave here and head out. But then I come to my senses because I haven't made plans. College is a great excuse and a great opportunity. Kill two birds with one stone.

Yeah, definetly apply Mcbrainder. Try to get to know someone on the inside like you said, that can give you a letter of recommendation. USC is a bunch of backstabbing, political dogs. You gotta know people or there is no shot. Who is your biggest influence (not your parents, someone you don't know like Aaron Spelling even though he sucks)

Actually, I've always admired James Woods. He takes the roles I would want. They are the sleezy roles. The thing about sleezy roles is that they are challenging. Most movies I judge on how well the bad guy does.
He also pretty much is one of those guys who just went to New York with the money he had in his pocket and took a risk. That is what keeps me motivated: success stories.

Woods is awesome. Pulp Fiction was on cable TV earlier. The thing was all edited, it was horrible to watch. I think Christopher Walken is the coolest. He is such a stiff and you know he is probably reading a cue card off camera but he is still the coolest dude in Hollywood. Even cooler than Falco.

Batgirl, experience and youth can work together...the sensibilities of youth. The energy of youth. Hell, I'm 25 and I feel like I'm about 47. Enjoy it while you have it. And the wise old drag queen knew what she was talking about.Every day I learn the truth of her words more and more...
