![]() ![]() ![]() What do you think of a person who says they can writer, but really doesn't know the first thing on writing? How about a person who pays to get published? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I went to this community college to take a placement test once to see what I could do. I only had no education and was looking for direction. The test told me I should go to college to study radio and television. I came out so frustrated. I just finished a 2 hour test for it to tell me to do what I was already doing. I was a radio annoucer at the time, where we made appearences on a local cable channel. On my way out a bookmarker caught my eye that I have kept to this day. "Any man can write who will set himself doggerdly to do so" All published means to me is that you are collecting a paycheck for something you love to do. I have read alot of books that I wonder how did this get published. Like certain films for that matter. So I dont think anyone can say for sure what is or is not good since anyone can write. I guess it is open to interpatation kinda like the bible is. Just me... [This message has been edited by JulieMallen (edited 01-05-2001).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Well, that you are right. It is your own interpertation on if you can write or not. I see what you mean. I just feel that some should take a course in English or something like that. I'm not the greatest in English myself, but I'm able to say that. There are those that can't admit it and swear they are the greatest. It just bothers me to know some people don't realize they can better themselves if they would only listen instead of instructing. Do you know what I mean? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() To be a good writer, you must have something to say. And it's more interesting if you can say it with an original, creative voice. But if basic grammar isn't used, people will be too critical and judgemental to read past the first sentence, so they'll never read what you have to say. Sooo~~, to me a good writer has all three elements. Only 7000 people in the US entered this contest, so that tells me there are billions of people who know they can't write or don't have anything to say. Actually 7000 scripts aren't many compared to how many there could have been. So, a lot of people know they can't write. I think most everyone who entered the contest can, just some lack perfecting the craft and lack life experiences to write about. Don't you think? kierrameme IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() quote: People who get published by vanity press are not writers, they just have the money to placate their own egos. I'd rather toil in obscurity for life than pay to call myself a 'published writer.' IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() <<<<<<Lostfairy I know exactly what you are saying. I am not talking about someone who needs to know the basics of grammer and such like me. I was trying to say no one can tell you, You need to know in your heart if you are a writer or not. That's all I was saying. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Well, the thing is, I feel really wierd writing this lady's novel into a script due to the fact it is like a child wrote it. It just funny to read, but I did promise her I'd put into a movie and there I will. But it is going to take much from to make it the best it should have already been. Do you understand where I'm getting at now? She wasn't accepted as a writer, she bought her book to paperback. Now you see where I'm getting at. I hope so. I'm not trying to say anyone can't write, but it just cheapens me some to try to write something great when something is already not so great in the first place. Well, I could look at it in a creative way because it will let me do what I want to do and make it even better with my creativity. IP: Logged |
