I don't *think* it's gonna be formal. More like club wear or something. OR we can have formal at first and then change into something more comfortable....(smile..wink)

Check out W. It's prime focus is on women's fashion, but they often have something for the guys. The April issue has an entire "Men's Portfolio" section replete with all the current trends in menswear for the coming season. (I just figured by your handle-- starlightinmahn--that you were a guy.)

I'm not a guy. What made you think that??? Nothing against the guys. I like men dressed to the hilt. Look I'm not gonna be wearing any of J-lo's dresses. But I would if I could. In New York Jewlery in In. Bling, Bling. Big diamond stub earrings. What's hot in L.A.?? CA?? Hollywood???

Presocrate, My handle starlightinmahn doesn't mean I'm a man. This is the breakdown: star, light, in, mahn. Mahn is for Manhattan, but it's abbreviated.

A serious answer.
I was planning on a casual suit, with jacket and a t-shirt, sort of Miami Vice retro. But I don't want to look a fool. Perhaps I'll show up in Braveheart-esq body paint and a cod-piece.

Oh my gosh I'm so terribly sorry!! It was an earnest mistake!! But in that case, check out W anyway.

I do know that fun and flirty skirts of any lenght are in and would look great for the party, especially when dressed up with a little shoe or sandal with a bit of a heel and a thin strap. If you want to be ultra trendy, however, go for the camouflaged military look.

Regardless, what is most important is how you feel in what you're wearing. If you like what you have on --the way it looks on you, the way it makes you feel-- that will make a good time even all the more fun.

Here are some sites to check out for ideas:

Skirts

Dresses

Skirts&Dresses;

More Stuff

Hope that helps!

I am the fashion police. Some of my qualifications include being named best dressed in college, buying an item of clothing a week, and four monthly fashion magazine subscriptions.

can't wait to see you all.

This thread is too funny!>>>>>>>
The party is how far a way and we are already stressing it?!
I have to go to a party on Saturday first time in my life I wound up with a $400.00
DRESS!>>>>>>
Trust me I did not pick it!
I had enough stress just finding something for this little 40 B-day party.
I think I will wait till July before I start obsessing on the right footwear for our little shin dig one hurtle at a time!
Te, he! ;-)
Love this thread it was fun to read.
I liked the web site you put up presocrate, it was cool!
Not to mention your true words of wisdom if you like what you are wearing and feel good in it you will enjoy yourself.
Who wants to have to be primpming and stressing when there will be so many great minds to converse with that special evening!
Looking foward to meeting you my ladies!
'-)

As always, you cut right to the heart of the matter, Julie! (BTW, have a wonderful time Sat!)

CC I thought the rubber glove thing was, umm, scary. Whenever someone wears rubber gloves it ain't a good thing - if you know what I mean!!

Karma's green light idea was cute though

Thank you for your kind words! '-)
I looked at your new dress collection by the way.
Maybe we should consider the rubber gloves!
< LOL
I am so looking foward to meeting you all!
Threads like this build up the antisipation.
And life is just too short not to have good things to look forward to.
Have a great day my ladies~
