Steve Buscemi was stabbed Thursday morning after he and Vince Vaughn were involved in a Wilmington, North Carolina, bar brawl. Buscemi had joined Vaughn and screenwriter Scott Rosenberg at the Firebelly Lounge in downtown Wilmington, where they were on location shooting John Travolta's new film, Domestic Disturbance. Both Vaughn and Rosenberg were arrested during the melee. Travolta was reportedly not there when the fight broke out. Wilmington resident Timothy Fogerty, 21, was arrested and charged Thursday with assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly stabbed Buscemi several times in the head, throat and arm. According to North Carolina's WECT-TV, the actor (whose film credits include Fargo and Reservoir Dogs) was taken to New Hanover Regional Hospital in critical condition. He was reportedly discharged Thursday afternoon and flew back to New York. Sources on the set of Domestic Disturbance tell E! News Daily that Buscemi's injuries were minor and he's expected back on the set Monday. The brawl reportedly has not affected the shooting schedule, but there's no official word yet from Paramount Pictures regarding the incident. Wilmington police say the fight broke out around 2:30 a.m., after witnesses reported that Fogerty was making comments about wanting to slice someone. "From what witnesses say, he provoked [the fight] at the club," says Officer Crystal Williamson. "And as they left, he provoked it again." Williamson says that when Buscemi, Vaughn and Rosenberg were leaving, the fight broke out. Vaughn, the 31-year-old star of Swingers and The Cell, and Rosenberg (whose credits include Gone in 60 Seconds, Con-Air and the new Spider-Man film) were arrested and held on $600 bail. Another local man, 20-year-old Kenneth Purgason, also was arrested in the brawl. Purgason, Vaughn and Rosenberg are due in court June 4. Production on Domestic Disturbance began in Wilmington in January. The Paramount film, due out sometime this fall, stars Travolta as a divorced man who believes his 11-year-old child's new stepfather (played by Vaughn) has sinister intentions.

Here's what I think happened. The local started fucking with Steve 'cause he's little and funny lookin' (you know, in a general kinda way) and Vince and the other guy whooped some ass on Steve's behalf and were arrested.

What I wonder is - did the local realize they were celebs??

B]

The 'other guy' is Scott Rosenberg, big time Hollywood scribe who penned "Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead", "Beautiful Girls" and "Con Air", among others. Apparently he can fight, too. Let's hear it for badass screenwriters...

that's a good skill to have, now that the writers' strike is around the corner. He could be Buschemi's bodyguard.

If I were a badazz screenwriter in a bar and it came down to either me and Steve Buscemi, I would gladly put myself between him and the knife. Long live Chet!!
