Not fair at ALL.

I sat up for three hours until 3 AM waiting for my conversion. I uploaded it at 10PM EST, 7PM PST.

It said it would only take 46 minutes.

And I STILL haven't gotten it.

You should really extend the deadline. I got fucked out of the most important contest I've been in just because Adobe's servers were unprepared.

PLEASE extend the deadline. I believe these are extenuating circumstances.

Anyone else with me?

As much as it sucks that you couldn't get your PDF done...

To the best of my knowledge Greenlight is NOT affiliated with Adobe.

However, I'm hoping that for those last-minute contestants, Greenlight will be kind enough to allow a reasonable grace period. I know I wouldn't complain, even though I uploaded my screenplay weeks ago.

Hang in there buddy!

I emailed my script to Adobe also. I think you read the time wrong. I sent mine in the same time you sent yours and it said 46 hours not 46 mins. Actually it read 45:59:47
And I still have not received it yet. I damn near cried.

Fortunately, I had Adobe Acrobat and formatted it myself. They may extend the deadline. If you have not received it yet, you may want to go to Kinkos and format it to .pdf yourself.

All you need is Adobe Acrobat the full version, not the reader.

I plan to get my script out to as many companies as I can and I suggest you do the same. Look at this as your first rejection. In this business, we all have to expect things like this will happen. Stay strong.

I'm with you. I tried to convert my screenplay with no luck or response. I can't begin to describe how disappointed I am right now.

Please!!! Project Greenlight, extend the deadline for script conversion problems!

Quit whining.

They announced this months ago and opened it up over a month ago for people to enter.

They told people not to wait until the last minute. The message boards have posted numerous horror stories of various technical issues and their solutions for weeks.

You waited until the final day of the final weekend to make your move. The suggestions that the deadline be extended to satisfy your procrastination is immature.

By the way, I also waited until the eleventh hour to get off my ass and missed the deadline as well. Such is life.

Next time...

Scottgood1 - I'm so glad you knew about PGL months ago. I, however, didn't hear about it until a few weeks ago. Needless to say, I didn't want to turn in crap. I wanted my screenplay to be good. While I work well under pressure, I don't work that well. It does take time.

I will take full responsibility for waiting until the last minute. However, I had no idea that I would have to convert my file or that it would take so long.

I am a writer. Period. I don't know about things like converting scripts or how long that takes. I don't even know if Adobe is still converting my script. After waiting for an unbearable amount of time, I finally logged off the internet.

Have a little sensitivity. I think most of us are disappointed and frustrated. After all, we missed the deadline because of technical problems - not because our work wasn't done.

I don't believe I was whining.

I worked my ass off for two months, brainstorming, planning, sketching out, writing, deleting, and re-writing.

And I worked straight for two months polishing this screenplay, trying to make it the best it could be under the 130 page limit.

And at 6PM EST, [3PM PST], I finished my drafting and sent it for conversion. I gave myself a 9 hour window.

I waited in front of the monitor for an entire 9 hours.

And nothing came up.

3AM came and went, and nothing came.

I was disqualified, because I worked my ass off on my script until the last second.

I now have my PDFs. They came this morning.

PGL, please, extend the deadline. Some people didn't make it due to procrastination, some people didn't make it due to forgetfullness, I didn't make it because a combination of perfectionism and server downtime.

All my close friends that have read my screenplay are in love with it.

Please give us a chance. It's the first year. Things were bound to mess up.

We stuck with you guys when the boards were fucking up and when forms were erasing themselves.

So please, just stick with us as we fall victim to the inconvienence of technology.

That's all I have to say.

I just hope someone in power reads this.

I really want to share my story.

Peace,
-enigs

I had to scan one screenplay into a computer one page at a time because the screenwriting program I use is so old. Then I had to fix up the scanning job because it didn't scan perfectly. Long story short; I didn't make it on time. I submitted to Adobe four hours early, but we know how that turned out. I have not once blammed Adobe for my missed opportunity, only myself. No matter what the circumstance, we only have ourselves to blame. Believe me I know how hard it is to point the finger at your self. This is going to be a little hard to live with for the next couple of days, but I think we will all survive.

Adobe could never convert my files, except one of them.

They never converted my files, except one of them.

That file they could converted, it turned to be 3 pages long and that is my math, because I could never open it.

How Could I load under this conditions ?

I tried, but Greenlight told me that there were problems with my script.

I never knew what happened.
