I would imagine you have been surfing through a lot of the threads - I've seen you pop up from time to time. There's a LOT of *really* nasty stuff going on the Greenlight Forum, sour grapes kind of nasty stuff.

A bunch of people made it in just under the wire (us included!) and someone raised the point in that forum that these new scripts will be randomly assigned to people who were contestants and are now reviewers because their status changed when they failed to meet the deadline.

What if they take the non-sportsmanship (and I do mean that -- having been called nasty names myself!) and use it against the scripts they are randomly assigned?

Assuage our concerns, will ya? Can ya?

Thanks much!

Mrs Steele

You reap what you sow.

Either they will be disqualified or their unsportsmanlike reviews who come back to bite them in the ass. It really depends on the set-up PGL has in reviewing and scoring all these scripts. There alot of theories all over these boards, but so far PGL is mum on the subject. HELL, they probably don't really know how it will all roll out in the end at this point. They've been working this whole concept out in theory only.

The final results remain to be seen. Good question, Mrs. Iago. But I'm still a firm believer in karma. So no worries to all concerned.( then again, I'm a little worried myself)

Kelley,

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Your script would not have been available to me to read as one of my voluntary reads through the search engine until after you had already had your three mandatory reviews done. At least, that's how I understand how things are working around here.

Hope that helps.

I did not make it on time. As a result I didn't want to read my one Mandatory script. But I did anyway, and I DID give it a horrible review. Not because of a sour grapes reason. It truly was bad. I will not name the script because I don't want others going in with a negative in mind if they read it. So you must consider the fact that you may have a bad script. I'm sure you don't think so, but I'm sure the writer of the script I read didn't think his script was bad either.

According to the Official Rules, the reviews that count are first done by other contestants. Think about it, if 100 new contestants got in on the last day (probably more) ... that's 300 mandatory reviews need to be done and 300 being done (we each do three and each get three). So, you are probably still in the contestant review pool. Only if three contestants do not review you (declines, tech problems, etc.) will reviews done from the reviewer pool count in your chances for the 250. It's late and I hope I made my point without losing you! GOOD LUCK!

Sour grapes?

Don't be silly. Yeah, I missed the deadline. So what? I still want to read and honestly review what did make it through on time to ensure that the best script makes it to the top of the pile. Nothing would feel worse than to see the eventual winner and feel like it's a substandard work. That should make everyone want to be honest in their reviews.

After all, it's a lot easier on the spirit to say you got beat by "American Beauty" than to say you got beat by "C.H.U.D."

I'm not sure what you're working about, Mrs. Steele. Don't the rules say that your final score will be determined by three Contestants unless one of them is disqualified? So ticked-off reviewers shouldn't affect your standing ...

I am one who tried to upload in time, experienced tech difficulties, and ultimately did not get in. Am I biiter?? Yes. Will I take it out as a reviewer? No. I am enjoying reading other scripts. It gives me a better perspective on who I am as a screenwriter.... well, a future screenwriter. I have reviewed 2 1/2 screenplays and I have given a so-so review (the script was okay) and a really glowing review to another completed last night. The one I am half through is really going to have to make some improvements quick or I can't promise how I will review this one. Anyway my point is, that we are not all taking that attitude. Am I still bitter? Yes. I did all that wasexpected of me. And I still could not get in the contest. That, GL owes me an explanation for, not anyone else. I am hoping that the BIG announcement later this afternoon will put a smile on my face... but who knows.

MrsIagoSteele, you wrote:

At least try and be kind. "FAILED to meet the deadline..." is not the case in all instances. There were a lot of us out here who made honest attempts, in time, that were screwed by the site. I'm still trying to play well with others. So are many in that same predicament. Have a heart.

If your screenplay's good, it'll get it's due regardless.

I am sickened by some of the crap I read on these baords....I didn't make it in because I tried to upload six hours prior to the deadline. Now I'm a reviewer. I WILL NOT take my frustrations out on some other contestant simply because PGL has been insensitive to my problems. I'm currently reviewing a script and do not feel I'm projecting any anger into my review. In fact, I am enjoying the process and the author will get a fair and unbiased review from me.

Additionally, just because a script gets a bad review from someone, doesn't mean it's 'sour grapes." Take it for what it is...constructive feedback.

Funny thing though...I asked for someone to read my script and give me some constructive feedback...no takers...thanks.

I'd be happy to review your script -- personally, not for the Boards.

Thank you! Now that PGL is letting us "whiners" in, my script will finally be reviewed. The name of it is Toopid Bodie and will be uploaded next week some time.

Thanks, Mrs. S.

Put me on your list to read. I'll read yours, if you like...
