ALL WOMEN WRITERS. If you want a deadline. If you want feedback. If you want support....

let's start a writing group!

Here's what I suggest.

We all exchange email addresses.

We set a deadline for Act One from someone.

We all read Act One.

We use this website, AIFNM message board, or some other message board to "meet" once a week about that Act.

With each script we read Act One on the first meeting, Act One's rewrite and Act Two on the second meeting, and Act One and Two rewrites with Act Three on the third meeting and then the final draft.

We can either alternate scripts or dedicate a month to each writer.

That way, the amount of reading is low and the writing gets time to be done well.

We can schedule a few months in advance so the writers can have a deadline.

I could possibly get into this...but...

I never discuss my scripts with anyone until the first draft is completely written.
I like to be in that world all by myself for round one...so the critiquing after writing Act 1 thing wouldn't work for me...

Why not - I think we've all verbally neutered him by this point.

i thought you would.

wanna sit in on a few?

wanna make us a whole subtopic? hm, what am i saying! subtopics=death

okay. A thread every Sunday.

Everyone can join whenever. Just put your name, email address and software (pdf, fdr, moviemagic, doc, rtf, etc) on the weekly thread. Scripts will be sent to you and a schedule.

I got a pilot I'm working on. And an action script so I'm ready for a deadline.

Since I'm starting it can I be first?

I will email my Act One to anyone who puts their info here. and we will become the WOMEN'S WRITER GROUP #1!!!

(give me a couple days to send it)

Stony, if you want to try this, here's some freeware for formatting:

Updated version of Rough Draft, the freeware word processor for writers
http://hotfiles.zdnet.com/cgi-bin/texis/swlib/hotfiles/info.html?fcode=00190J&
b=uk

<<...has features specifically designed for writers of novels, short stories,
articles, poetry, plays, and screenplays. Its clean-looking tabbed interface
lets you open and edit up to 100 documents at once. Three modes are provided:
Normal, Screenplay, and Stage/Radio Play. Spell checking in American or
British English is built in, and you can easily add a third-party dictionary
and thesaurus. Quickly insert user-defined text for character names or
commonly used phrases. Press the instant-backup hotkey or toolbar button to
save all open files to a floppy disk. Automatically generate cover pages for
manuscript submissions, with word and page counts. Import files in Word 6.0,
Word 97, and HTML formats. Publish output as HTML with ease. If you don't
require features such as tables, indexes, outline numbering, and footnotes,
RoughDraft gives you a great way to write...>>

I haven't tried it myself, but it might be worth checking it out...

Justina,

Check out the ifilm site. It has a lot of online support programs. You can even have coverage of your script (for a price), but still there is a lot of links that are very helpful to independent filmmakers.

Be good!!
