![]() ![]() ![]() Can we have boys in the women's writing group? They sometimes have a different point of view and I think that could be very helpful. ![]() IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() quote: justina, sorry, gal, but the first women's writer group was a thread started by monicalew prior to the PGL deadline. I can, however, say that it was very helpful, and the gals (most of whom are now gone) were a hoot. I'm about to start a new semester, so I don't have time right now, but I do hope the venture is fruitful. jen IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() petunya, while I agree men give it a good spin, I'd like to have one just for women. I think our experiences are unique enough to warrant that. However, I would strongly suggest getting input from men about a script as well to see if you have the male voice down. This is one place where I indulge in borderline feminazism. I say we put up with enough shitty female characters, we can have a few films with the men being subpar and the women interesting. if guys don't like that, they can watch the other 99% of films. I know I'll get slack for that. But, well, whatever. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I won't give you slack, Justina. I love this idea and the woman behind it! *kisses* (I think women give better reviews with more helpful info than men, anyway.) [This message has been edited by Disney69 (edited 04-19-2001).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() On the subject of men writing female characters vs. women writing male characters, I have heard plenty of complaints from women that men can't write women correctly, and for the most part it's true, but the reverse does not seem to be the case- men rarely complain that we can't write men well. If anything, women tend to write their sympathetic male characters as better people than men would. As for who writes better reviews, I can't say I really noticed a difference. Reviewing is an art unto itself. IP: Logged |
