He's married... with three kids... and a house... no dog, as far as I know though...

Plus, he's evil...

LOL!
Let him know I've got that script he accidentally left behind at the holding area on Sunday. And I want a shaker of salt in exchange for its safe return.

Oh, BJ - you gotte hear this silliness that I encountered on the way to work this morning.

I was walking by the Graphics Art High School on 49th street and there was a group of four kids heading towards me. I wasn't paying too much attention until I realized that I'd have to find a way to pass the posse when our paths collide.

Well, when I got within about ten feet of them, I looked at their faces. They all had white face make-up all over their face and they all had the black paint in the design of The Dead Presidents costumes from that movie.

It was all I could do keep from outright grinning at the cool effect the paint had - don't even know what it was for, but it was really cool to see four high school kids walking around with their faces made up like that... God, I love this city.

Bonjour

I have been bouncing about in other conversations but it seems no one is there. I see that there are many replies here and I hope I many receive one, as well. I am new to the Americas and am on holiday for a few months. I am in Los Angeles, currently, and then in Chicago next month.

I find it very disheartening that Americans are so bitter when it comes to love. Many ladies I have met are very cold because they have been hurt so many times. Why is this so? I try to woo the dames but nothing! I wish I could help. I am sorry to anyone who has been crushed as thus. In France, many things are different. The women expect and receive respect and love. That is what I was taught and give. What does it take, here in the Americas, to catch a woman’s eye? I know I am only here for a few months but I, too, need companionship.

Merci

Darcy is a girl's name. And no self-respecting French person would spell their last name with an oux. It would be eaux.

I'm Irish, but I lived in France for a year.

But Darcy, do tell how you stumbled into this web site and of all places, the AGONY thread. Most of us don't dare to tread in threads full of New Yorkers, especially these New Yorkers.

I am sure they do, Moira, but I also see the men treating them much better in France. I've seen several fights just walking down the streets here in Los Angeles, women crying and shouting. I haven't seen shouting like that since I was living at home with my mère. What does it take for you, Moira, to be attracted or to respect a man? Flowers? Wine? A gentle kiss or touch of affection? What is the secret to wooing an American?

The person I am staying with in Los Angeles is a part of your group. He said, "For a laugh, talk to these people." He also asked me to keep his identity a secret. I don't think he wants me to blow his "bad ass" cover, as he calls it.

Oh you should! I just sometimes don't have enough dry wit, irony or imagination to post in here -- or I can't figure out what's going on, so I just stay out.

Hell, BJ, we're gonna do that anyway... paid or not, but if he likes, Darcy can think of the money as payment to get us to NOT belittle him...

I am willing to take a fine lady out, of course. I have a little saved up for such an occasion. It is my custom to buy the first round while meeting new people. I’ve spent so much already and I’ve been here only a week! No matter, this is holiday and I’ve saved all year for this. I’m going to a show tonight, I believe, Drew Carey but I am free tomorrow night if anyone in Los Angeles would care to join me.

I wish I could break it down. It usually takes me by surprise.

Not the respect part. That's easy-- someone with passion, intelligence, kindness and integrity, who respects himself and others. Who treats others like they matter and he wants to know them. Who has somewhere to go and makes use of his gifts and talents and appreciates the most sublime of those in others. But even if he has somewhere to go-- he finds genuine pleasure in this bizarre journey of being human -- and wouldn't get too dazzled by the cheap sideshow that poses as an end goal and could othewise sap the life and sparkle out of his eyes and soul.

Well, someone you're attracted to and you respect and who finds you attractive and there's chemistry with-- about as hard to find as a propenent of free trade in Quebec right now. But if you do find it-- you have to give up everything to give it a chance. And that's hard to do, too. Because we can all be stuck in our fears about how the world is supposed to be.
