Sheesh, had I known it was this wasy, I would have started long ago...

Uhm..insane fantasy? Then why did you accept the ring, pick out china patterns and set a menu for the reception dinner?

Of course we're getting married...and I booked the church yesterday, so it's all set...when do I get to meet your parents?

How about leaving her alone? That's a good option.

Don't you have it backwards?? I may have missed something but 2Q doesn't usually dish it out unless it's well deserved.

Nope..started messing with me and I tried to disarm the situation with humor...she just got worse...looks like I picked the wrong topic to joke around about, but we wouldn't be here if she hadn't started it...

I think I'll go with wedding song next...that should be rife for good material

Addendum:

Actually, if you go back and read what I wrote, her reactions WAY out of line as well...that only makes it even funnier of course

Something that may be a joke to you won't seem that way to the other person, especially if it's just in writing.

a good rule of thumb...but I was responding to viscious attacks with foul language...trying to disarm the situation...

Bump the thread then. 2q attacks no one, especially visciously, unless she has cause. Sorry man, nothing personal, but I ain't buying it.

So i could have gotten viscious, ignored it or retaliated with humor...

1. I'm not a viscious person myself by nature...

2. I thought 2Q and I were on somewhat friendly terms (whoops, that was a mistake)

3. But I'm also not one to back down when someone is attacking me...

I hoped to disarm it, on the thought of #2, and it got a little out of control...now I'm a bit possed that I was attacked for no real reason, and definately not under the auspices of friendship...the "I do this to everyone" doesn't cut it with me any mpore than "Everyone does it"

It's personal for me...and now, it's become personal...so, no, it's no longer done in humor..I do it because I know it aggravates her...because I was needlessly attacked and thats just wrong...

file this under "taste of her own medicine"

I saw this. Jaws 4, right?

As far as doing it to everyone, well, she does. If you were/are friends you'd get that. Shit, I don't think she abuses anyone on here more than me. But it's not personal and if something bothers me, I simply say hey, that went a little far, sitch difused. Maybe you need thicker skin?? It's a possibility.

We need 2Q in here. 2Q???

There are no fisticuffs here. I and defending 2Q. We are calmly and rationally discussing events. Sheesh.

Aren't we all?

See, the point is that I don't know her well enough for that kind of nonsense...and if she were a guy saying that kind of stuff to me, I would have simply decked him...a friend saying that to me, I wouldn't talk to them anymore...who needs someone thats that abusive? thats not funny, or goofing...it's just plain viscious...you choose to accept it, thats your ball of wax...I don't put up with that nonsense anymore thatn I';d expect a woman to put up with a guy who hits her...its abuse, plain and simple

...a stranger does it to me?

Well, then, i feel that a litttle retaliation is in order...

You may not expect it, but women put up with men hitting them all the fucking time. Sadly, it's pretty common.

Yeah, that was off topic but you hit on a subject near and dear to my heart. Batard. (smiley's can diffuse lots of things. )

Trust me, I think it's a topic we can all relate to in one way or another...

But because it happens we're supposed to just accept it and walk on by?

i think not..I think abusive people deserve a little of their own medicine...it's educational...and should be called for what they are...society shouldn't put up with them

mjfryar,

I think I read most of the relevant threads. It seems to me that 2Q tried to tell you on several occasions, that she didn't find the joke funny anymore, and you persisted in "ribbing" her (in fact, some might call it sexually harassing her). Then she got angry.

That's an honest assessment from a third party observer. Since you posted on the boards, it seems like you were looking for some sort of response. Normally, I'd just mind my own business.

In a related note, I became the dualie handle "New Orleans Paolo" for a time, as a joke, after 2Q's New Orleans vacation. I could sense after I posted for a bit, that she felt uncomfortable with the joke (and she didn't even have go so far as to say "fuck off,") so I e-mailed her privately and said, "I'm New Orleans Paolo, and I'm just joking around, but I sort of sensed you weren't enjoying the joke. Should I stop? "

Escalating the fight doesn't seem like the best course of action. I fear you may end up coming off badly. Just tell her you were having fun, and you're sorry she took it the wrong way.

Just one guy's opinion.

Thank you for your opinion. It's duly noted. However, whats important here is the way I was both spoken to and treated. It was outrageous, uncalled for and blatently offensive.

Only on one occasion has she ever directly asked me to stop. This post was written in direct response to it.

To suggest it is sexual harrasment is as knee jerk weenie as if I were to state that I feel physically threatened by her direct references to violance and use of profane language.

She has overreacted in a manner that is far and above proper, to the point of highly personal. As I have stated above, I take the things she has said to me personally. If she is, at this time, uncomfortable, outraged, offended and personally angered, good, then thats the intent.

Good.

She can have a dose of her own medicine.

Personally, I'm more than ready to let it drop, I think I've made my point, and it's lost all humor value at this point. I wil, howeve, not stand by if personal, eggregeous attacks are made on my person.

Your opinion is more than welcome, but it is just that, and coloured by personal bias at best. You know neither my feelings, or reactions, intents or meanings. And, as I can see from th ereactions I've drawn, that is utterly unimportant to you as well.

Therefore, I'm sure you will understand fully why I am going to ignore your opinion. It does not take me into account, only 2Q. That makes it a bad opinion, in my opinion.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa... I leave for like a nanosecond and we become the nurrie forum? Since when do we explain that we're joking, since when do we have to do that? Since when do we try to calm people down who get pissed?

MJ, man, this is the Contestant's Forum... Remember the Contestant's Forum? Get over it or take off, that's the rule here.

We abuse each other here. That's how it works.

Gotta go with this one. mj, if you made your point, why are you still posting about it? Let it go. No one cares and the only "point" you are making is to get everyone to defend 2Q and think you're being a total ass, who, when a good point is made like bittrich's, instead of truly responding in kind, you resort to name calling. It's childish, dude. Move on to something happier.

I usually ignore people like this, and 2Q is smart enough to do the same. I believe that's why she's not bothering with him anymore. Especially in this thread.
