Oh, cool! So, dfogg, if I were to say you were a hypocritical, rage-filled, self-deluding, no-talent prick who likes to hurt other people's feelings for kicks, then I'll be a better writer? Neat! I feel more free already...

hm...against my better judgement, I'm stepping into the ring.

I don't care if you hate me or any of my friends. I don't care if you like me and my friends.

All the friends I have can fight their own fights and I have the faith to let them.

With that said, if you treat me or anyone else with disrespect, I will treat you with the same disrespect and if you can take it, great. We're all even.

If you get all riled cuz I call you on your shit, then you're a pussy with a smelly discharge.

Topo hates Carv. I like both of them. They both seem to survive the animosity pretty well.

It's fuckin' message board. If it goes to hell, we got other things to do. If it's not what we want. Whatever. Nothing ever is.

Now THAT'S a sentiment I can get behind! You go, J!

(Although, I have to amend this and say that some things are *exactly* what you want. Don't be so cynical, Justina...)

Yes, it can be fun, but d.lane said it well, dfogg. learn to spot bullies and don't go blindly along, cheering them along. It's as cowardly as they are.

You seem to think grant demi-god status to anyone who runs off at the mouth-- behind cover. Why? Do YOU think it takes some kind of courage to do that or it is somehow transcendent because it means the person is overcoming their *inner editor?*

JEEZ.

I think you don't know the difference between creativity and normal social conscience. Some of the stuff said on here would get people punched out in person. And yet it's done here-- and yeah, even if a lot of it is bullshit or a joke- hey I am for a certain amount of fun and irony and even antagonism (although- your comment about best friends being antagonistic? well -- maybe for YOU). But some of this shit is shit!

Learn to spot it. Shit, I mean. That doesn't mean the sacred GL space is sullied with so much shit. It means NOT EVERYTHING here or EVERYONE is so fucking enlightened or spewing such creative genius as you might think!

A lot of what is said is garbage. But you act like some cheerleader on here for all the garbage. It's fucked up.

Society doesn't apply here. This is a place to come where you don't have to follow society's rules. Plain and simple, society sucks. It's suffocating and stifling and many times stupid. And it doesn't allow creative energy.

Here you can say whatever you want. No holds barred, until the end. And everyone here is supposed to know that nothing said here matters unless everybody involved meant it to matter. In other words, if you don't want it to be true, you can brush it off as a joke. It's that simple. And if it offends you, you simply close the thread and move on.

You keep saying dualies are bullies, I keep saying they're meaningless. Likely neither of us will change our mind, so there's not much point in debating it. There's a whole nother forum at the top of your message board page full of people who are nice to each other, who apologize at the slightest slight, and who talk about their feelings constantly. That kind of thing makes me hurl, so I come here instead. I'd rather be able to let my mind go and not worry about who says what to who because none of it really matters.

Hmmm. Well, I agree to disagree. But I think you got me wrong on some stuff.

We're real- even if some of us prefer not to act like it here.

Dualies aren't all bullies. But, at the same time, fictional selves aren't inherently better or more creative than real selves -- in fact, often the fakeness just makes the writing boring and the gimicks tiresome very quickly.

Society isn't one big monolith of oppression and rules. The least structure often promotes the most oppressive harsh and competitive environments-- that are chock-full of rules. That you won't find in any handbook or law.

In some ways, you could say the most oppressive rule-driven social settings are play-grounds (where bullies rule) and relatively unregulated or clan-based industries- like the Entertainment Industry- that have traditionally relied on social networks and knowledge.

This place is part of 'society.' Yes, it's open. But don't believe for a minute there isn't social structure, rules or culture being created here. It's an 'open society' but with plenty of structure, cliques, power games and rules -- tacit and explicit.

I don't like the GF. I like it here.

I think our disagreement might be just due to an age/experience gap - so no harm/ no foul.

OK, I would like to say that I completely disagree with this!

I also disagree with fogg's comment that Carv is oversensitive and a nurrie muncher.

Yeah, but it doesn't matter, because, as dfogg says, society doesn't apply here. According to him, the more you let yourself insult someone, the better a writer you'll be. So I can say he's a Nazi war criminal who likes little boys and get a *fantastic* idea for a 4-part Fox miniseries! So I can say that I'd like to stomp him into the ground (along with the other duallies) for picking on my little Siren, but hey, it's all meant light-heartedly, so that makes it OK, right?

(*Warning: The sarcasm-impaired should not attempt to read this reply.*)
