Some new paintings have been added to the 'Entering The Inner' thread.

Hope you enjoy.

This one, by the way, is called 'Giving Up The Night'.

You're welcome, Toe.

This one is called 'QUANTUM KARMA'. Sorry it's not more detailed, but it's a large canvas and the .jpeg file size would have been too large.

The other new works are in the 'Entering The Inner' thread.

Is the woman in that first one sad cuz she's giving up those large penises? Or are they sort of following her around and that's why she looks chagrined?

I'm not sure what to say to that.

But it's definately comedy.

ARTRA, if there is ever a sixties revival you might make some money.

I've always believed that my art, if it works right, speaks on many levels to many people and it never surprizes me to see many different takes on my work.

Large penises? Perhaps. But that could be said of any tall building, church tower or monument anywhere in any city. Or, for that matter, telephone poles or sharp mountain peaks. The buildings grow towards the moon, much like house plants turn towards sunlight.
So perhaps these is some symbolism in that?

How the hell do I know. I just paint the damn things.

And is it perhaps a little 'cartoonish'? Again, perhaps. But even in comedy there can be found the bases for much sadness.

As to Quantum Karma being '60s retro? It's also possible. My good friend Debra, an antropologist and teacher in Idaho, says the painting is filled with symbols commonly found among Native American cultures. I was simply trying to bridge several centuries of perception. Perhaps it works. Perhaps not.

But thank you all for your sincere input.

And lastly, this is a copy of a larger work done ten years ago during my surrealistic period. It's actually owned and hangs in an attorney's office in the Flint Building. Every once in a while I pay it a visit.

It's called 'NEAR THE BRINK'.

Damn, buddy! I've never see any of your older stuff before. Why don't you do more surrealistic paintings?

Cat,

Thank you for the visit and taking these guys home with you. With your permission, I'll send either Tanya or HKC copies of these paintings (remember, I haven't taken a photo of 'The Nature Of Nature') and they can post them here. Because they are yours now, it's up to you.

Well I'd love to show some of my greenlight friends Sanctuary because it's so cool. I just love your use of color and shapes!!

Oh and I found a great space for Life Force so I think I'll be buying that in the future if someone else doesn't snatch it up!

(have you showed Social Elite Blues or Coffee House with a Soul on here yet?)

Cat,

'Coffee House For The Soul' and the others were in the older thread HKC set up. I'll try to go there and pull them back up.

Well, I just tried to access then from the archives. Those older posts have been 'x'ed, so I can not pull them up and post them here. But here is 'Intuitive Journey'.

Artra, you must look up Genice Grace Gotidoc. Her art is a lot like this. She shows mainly in Glendale and Silverlake. Look her up if you can. She's relatively new but amazingly talented. I have her art on my walls.

Justina,

I did not paint the 'Earthly Angel' painting. And in fact am not sure who painted it or even if that is the real name of it. But I posted it in the Greenlight Forum in Julie's thread, the thread called 'Frangipana and all others who paint...'It's on page nine.

And I would love to see some of your friend's work. Does she have any that can be e-mailed? Do you still have my e-mail addy?
Where is her work now hanging?

Magicalcat,

Thought you might like to know that I'm doing a painting right now in the same 'style' of 'Sanctuary'. Also, should you ever photograph 'The Nature Of Nature' please scan a copy and sent it to me. I do not have a copy of your painting.

oh god artra. i swear that looks JUST LIKE Genice's kind of paintings. I didn't want to say that if it was yours cuz it's offensive to say that to an artist.

She and I have lost contact. I miss her dearly. I don't have any of her stuff scanned in.

Could you do me the greatest favor and email that image to me?

JYWalford@msn.com

(Genice ONLY drew women figures with the same muscular stretching that looks ghostlike. She played with color and shadow that way and never showed faces. Wings are a favorite of hers also.)

Justina,

I'll e-mail it to you now and, if you like, some of my newer works.

Also, I tried pulling her name up on the net.
Nada! So, later on this week I'll dust off my old P.I. license and see if I can find her for you locally. I'll let you know.

W.

This one is an older painting called 'To A Better World'. Another work Magicalcat took home with her.

I will miss these two not being around, but I know they are in good, loving hands now.

And this one is also a new one, painted last week. It's called 'Exiting Dreamland'. The sign on the side of the building isn't very clear here, so it reads 'Rest Stop'.

For those of you who are interested, Ms. Cat has been kind enough to buy five of my paintings. The following three are some of her favorites, two of which paintings she never got to see because they were sold before she had the chance to see them.

So, here's to you Missy!

The first is called 'Unfinished Business.' Imagine God, half-way through the creation process, getting very frustrated, getting a little drunk, then saying "the hell with it"
and leaving. This painting is for all the 'unfinished business' all of us should take care of.

Some of you may have seen these back in December before the Forums were purged by Greenlight. For those who have not, I hope you enjoy.

Watson
