Allyn in Agony
NEW YORK CITY, O'Flaherty's Ale House (a.k.a. the AGONY hangout) - Even though they were shooting cj220's short that night and all through the weekend, the AGONY group (and a few social greenlighters) were kind enough to gather at their favorite pub to welcome me to the Big Apple. I was regaled with stories of grim day jobs, screenplays written and waiting, and SAG-inspired frustrations with their next production, bittrich's "The Vegetable."
AGONY, Area Greenlighters of New York, are proving the model that you don't need to follow traditional Hollywood channels to get films made. A truly inspirational group, these PGLers are holding Short Script Competitions, raising funds, and shooting films.
To all my new friends in NYC -- it was great to hang with you and talk about AGONY productions, your own scripts and projects, and the site. I really enjoyed meeting you all.
And for everyone else, check out www.wordsfromhere.com/agony_scripts.html, keep your eyes on the boards for postings about AGONY events, and if you are ever in the general vicinity of Times Square, drop by O'Flaherty's and you just might run into some of the coolest filmmakers around.
