THE PROJECT GREENLIGHT CONTEST
For screenwriters and filmmakers, getting a screenplay noticed by a producer or studio often seems impossible without an agent or manager. For this reason, Executive Producers Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Chris Moore created an online screenwriting contest to give an aspiring, unknown screenwriter the chance to make a movie and to help other quality writers become noticed by Hollywood. The Project Greenlight Contest prize was a $1 million production budget to direct the winning screenplay, as well as a guaranteed theatrical release from Miramax. During filmmaking, HBO will chronicle the behind the scenes trials and tribulations of a first time director making an independent film.
