We all worked hard to get here and we all owe it to ourselves to maintain Professional Courtesy when reviewing other works. This isn't so much for the Reviewer as it is for the Writer who is competing directly with the same works they are reviewing. I just hope that everybody keeps it fair. I know I will.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. Anyone who has labored in front of the dreaded blank page will understand that each script should be read carefully and fairly. I'm excited about the prospect of meeting new writers and starting a network via this contest.

Strength in numbers, lad.

cheers,

-bh

Well said Pilot. The way I look at its pretty simple. You had better be able to stand by your review, backing it up with REAL praise as well as criticism, hopefully constructive, if it comes to that. My understanding is that you will know the handle of your reviewers AFTER a round, assuming you don't advance. This is supposed to be a community, and YOUR review is what you offer to the community as your honest opinion.

Anyway, I'm with you - and what's more I believe its in everyone's own SELF interest to say what you mean and mean what you say.

It's gonna be interesting... that's for sure.

Yes, I would hope everyone gives the screenplays a fair shake. I definitely will. It took me a long time to format the thing and write it, and I'm sure other people have gone through much more to get theirs written.

I think the way that the way the review form is set-up, that there are definitely several safeguards against unfair reviews. Objectivity is the key word. If I script is good, I'm going to say it's good and why, and if a script is bad, I'm going to say it's bad and why, and what, in my opinion, the writer might do to improve it.

Well, I first would like to say good luck to all of you. I am just a reviewer and I am a little jealous of all of you- hey, I write short story- and how I wait in anticipation of some great work. To let it be known I don't think that you need have any worries, I believe that many will take this contest to heart and take into consideration the effort and hard work put forth by the authors. Let's have fun, keep writing and keep up on the ideas.

It's a good thing none of us are professional readers - I hope. After they check the page count, they generally refer to Syd Field's book, "Screenplay", and then make sure certain things happen by certain times in the script per the book. They also usually say no to most things - which is easy to understand since thousands of scripts are submitted each year to studios and a couple of hundred are made - it's the contacts, generally, the connections, that get things done in LA LA land.

I know I expect that. I don't have high hopes of winning this thing, but I do have high hopes of learning how to make my screenplay better so I can submitt it to agents and other contest. I hope whom ever gets my script feels as you do.
