I would like this to be a forum for all the screenwriters to list the title of their screenplay and a short synopsis of it. I think it would be very interesting to read blurbs of other stories...Please feed my MTV-influenced attention span...what was that? If you happen to see your synopsis on my post, but dont recall placing it there...I copied and pasted it for your convenience.

Multiples (search under 'jealous brothers' in search engine).

Michael had fought hard to get his life the way he wanted it. He was a successful artist, he had a wife and a daughter, he'd survived Vietnam with no more than a scratch. And he'd forgotten about his family.

Until one night, out of the blue, he get's a call from his family. His father, his mother and his four identical brothers.

With the help of Curtis Jones, a detective, Michael tries to ensure the safety of himself and his family, by providing Curtis with the only true knowledge about his family, and the madness that had plagued him as a child.

My original tag line for this was -

How many times can a man kill himself? It all depends on who's counting.

good luck!

ROLLING UP DOWNEY LANE.

I got the idea from this strange, gravity-challenged hill near my old hometown in northern NJ. If you drive down to the bottom and put your car in neutral, you actually roll backwards at a pretty good clip. People swing by there all hours of the day and night to roll upwards and experience some serious chills.

In my story, an innocent joy ride to Downey Lane turns ugly. A woman dies and a man loses his will to live. But he won't even consider checking out until he finds the perfect "parents" for his young daughter and elderly father.

Sounds heavy, but it's actually funny. No, really.

I haven't seen ROLLING UP DOWNEY LANE posted anywhere and I'm pretty anxious to have it read. If you'd like to review my entry, I'd not only be tickled, I'd be happy to review yours

Red Rocket Zoomers
Logline: Five hormone driven boys start a band with aspirations of girlfriends and fame and collide with the truth about their talent.
Synopsis: In 1989 hair metal ruled the Billboard charts and all the rock stars told Rolling Stone magazine they started a band to get chicks. Danny Wilson and Harold “Miggs” Miggsfield, driven by hormones and romantic tales of fame detailed in the pages of their favorite magazine, follow suit and recruit three friends for the ride.

Quickly, the Red Rocket Zoomers launch into an orbit filled with girls and popularity without playing so much as a note. Fame in Gower Middle School isn’t exactly Rolling Stone worthy, but it’s enough to get these eighth grade guys on the cover of their school newspaper. The Red Rocket Zoomers know their days are numbered when the girlfriends they fought so hard to impress demand to hear them perform.

Hair metal survived the eighties and clashed with alternative music at some point in the early nineties. The Red Rocket Zoomers met their fate before the end of the decade in a collision with the truth one night at the Dangling Bang.

Search for "slacker vampire" in the search engine.

Kevin and Jason have a different view of night life... It's their entire existence. Being vampires that are "Y2K compatible" means taking on the styles, lingo, and attitude of the times. This is not your father's Dracula... "Not even close, bud..."

Jason's sister goes "sunbathing" only to leave him with a baby vampire. Having to raise a vampire nephew isn't easy, especially when your best friend doubts you can dress yourself without assistance.

Kevin lives with secrets... a secret love... a secret past... and sometimes secrets are hard to keep.

Enter a world where the blood of the innocent will have you guzzling mouthwash and the mention of Tom Cruise films are a reason to giggle... It's a new day for the mythos, and everything you thought about vampires will be tested.

Lemme know whatcha think...

White Castles (Jersey, embezzling or record store in the search engine)

Two New Jersey record store employees (naw) are desperate to make a breakthrough indie film like their hero Kevin Smith, but they lack all the key elements: money, a cast, a crew, and a story. And like a lot of slackers, they're too distracted by porno, comic books, and Toys R Us runs to commit themselves to such a life-consuming project.

Only when they stumble on a surefire way to raise production capital by embezzling from their bosses do they begin to put the pieces of a film together.

Of course, things go from bad to worse when the bosses start to catch on, and when the two young men start to feel the tug of "real jobs", "responsibility" and...shit, "love".

I wrote it after seeing "Empire Records" and realizing that a tremendous opportunity was wasted when the makers of that film failed to nail the retail zeitgeist of American youth in general, and of record store slaves in particular.

There's plenty of sex, a little violence, morally and ethically ambiguous themes, and music. There's a whole bunch of other stuff I think the script has going for it, but I'll stick to the facts here. Love it or hate it, there's definitely plenty of sex, a little violence, morally and ethically ambiguous themes, and music.

Hope you like it.

WIZARD TO THE RESCUE

In thirteenth century England, a mob traps teenage GRACE and HER MOTHER in their home. Things look bad until RANDALL, Wizard extraordinaire, appears. He has come for Grace.

Present Day: Professional Wizard Grace meets with MIKE, a man under metaphysical attack. Grace discovers the source is Randall. When confronted, Randall gives her a classy brush off. Later, Randall appears and we learn the two wizards have more of a history than just teacher-student. Randall refuses to cease the harassment. A wizard showdown begins and much wackiness ensues. When Randall throws a few lighting bolts around, injuring Grace, he decides his life is over.

Days later, Grace receives an other-worldly call for help from Randall who explains his attempted suicide and abrasive personality annoyed DEATH so he was turned into a dragon and stuck in limbo until Death returns from his vacation. Randall convinces Grace to find Death and straighten things out. A nice enough guy despite his occupation, Death agrees to 'fix' Randall if Grace will see him that evening. Randall is less than thrilled that she has a date with Death.

Grace leaves Randall to recover at her house. He takes a call from someone with a "magic" problem and decides to help ...

There's more, but you gotta read it to see it!

BREAKING THE CYCLE

is about SHONNASEE D. WEST, a successful Officer (Colonel) in the US Army. He has a beautiful a supportive wife BRANDY. From the out side looking in, he seems to have everything in order. However, little does his family knows, Shonnasee has a dark secret.

Shonnasee's dark past comes to a head as his feelings of loss begin to trigger a series of nightmares.

What did he lose?

Nightmares that he cannot seem to shake, he cannot understand why these dreams are happening at this time in his life. Shonnasee is worried because he cannot tell anyone about these dreams, because it would mean revealing a dark past he has yet to tell his family about. However, revealing his past seems to be inevitable because his nightly torment is worrying Brandy as well.

Brandy is an assistant to a hypnotic-therapist named DR. DELMON PENNY. Dr. Penny is a young but prominent Doctor who, like Shonnasee, feels his life is missing something or someone. His childhood was wonderful; he had every opportunity any child could ask for. He has a girlfriend, PAPRIKA COLE, which he loves very much, two loving upper middle class parents, and a picture he's had his whole life of someone he does not know. Yet, he keeps the faded picture with him and a question in his mind he has yet to find the answer to. It is as if he knows that the picture he carries with him holds the key to filling the void he's feeling.

Does it?

Brandy convinces Shonnasee to see Dr. Penny about his nightmares. The sessions reveal things about Shonnasee's past that Brandy never imagined possible.

Shonnasee's mother CINDY was a heron addict who whored for her habit leaving Shonnasee and his half-sister AALIYAH alone and hungry most of the time.

Shonnasee's father MARTIN was an alcoholic and heavy drug user who would vanish for weeks only to return to molest Aaliyah, beat on Shonnasee, and take the families government assistance money for his own selfish habits.

Brandy, who thought she knew everything there was to know about her husband's childhood, is stunned. She is upset at first but being the understanding and strong women she is she insists that Shonnasee continue with the sessions and deal with the childhood he has chosen to forget.

Continued sessions reveal a series of tragedies:

Shonnasee's father got Aaliyah pregnant at age nine.

As Aaliyah is in labor, Shonnasee's mother and father die in an apparent double drug overdose.

In the same night Aaliyah hemorrhages and dies giving birth.

In one night, Shonnasee's dysfunctional family is no more. Shonnasee was placed in a foster home a few days later. From that night on Shonnasee decided the only way to deal with such a tragedy is to erase it from his mind, forever… 35 years.
A few years and some troubles later, still wondering what to do in with his life Shonnasee joins the Army, goes to college, and turns his life around.

Aaliyah had a son, who she named Delmon. He was adopted and grew to become a Doctor.

A Doctor of what?

The voids they were feeling, Shonnasee and Dr. Penny, was the other missing in their lives; meaning Shonnasee is Dr. Penny's Uncle. The nightmares were caused by Shonnasee's need to face the reality of his past. Dr. Penny's void was caused by not knowing the truth. The picture he had carried his whole life was Shonnasee holding him a few days after he was born, and now that the truth is known he too can deal with his future and not dwell in the unknown past.

BREAKING THE CYCLE is based on a true story. It is a story of life, the choices we make, and the circles that make life complete. If a circle is not complete then fate often steps in to allow someone a second chance to complete the circle.

RUNNING WITH THE CLOWNS

Advertising executive Julian Jones, disillusioned with the ethical shortcomings of his business (he's had to fire the clown from his Burger Fun account for money laundering), quits his job to become the writer he's always to be. But when his new book lands on the bestseller list thanks to the mafia connections of his literary agent, Julian finds himself in a moral quandry again. And if he quits this time, there'll be a price on his head.

Here's a taste...

MITCHELL
I'm sorry Julian, but that's the advertising life cycle. Someone above you... goes away, you move up and someone below you moves up.

What do you mean "goes away?" You mean die, don't you? Account executives die, Mitchell. They drown in all the bullshit.

SNOW BLIND (key word: fairl tale):

Based loosley on Snow White, this is a modern fairy tale - told with full media coverage - they way a fairy tale would be handled into today's image-driven world -
and in which the Evil Step-mother would end up with Prince Charming and Snow White would end up with one of the dwarfs.

It's not so much a romantic comedy as it is a social commentary on real values.

Finally, I finished reviewing. Thank you Tech Support for the help.

"The Last Ride" Dark humored-drama/Suspense

Ray and Neil desperately need to hide the dead body of their friend, Michelle, before the local sheriff and his deputy find them suspicious. But two days later after an interrogation, they need to head to the burial site and try to kill her in another way so that evidence would be changed. In other words, they try to create a different death scenario. But what Ray and Neil do not know is that they are not the actual culprits to her death, but someone else in town.

This story has many twists and is unpredictable, especially at the end. The scenes are shuffled around, like Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction. But is in no way related to those movies. The script also matches "Scream" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer" but is not actually like those movies either. The premise does not fit those two movies. Those are slasher movies, my script is totally different. Like, what would YOU do if you were placed in a situation like these two guys.

Hope you like it, I would really appreciate any comments on the script; good and bad. This gives me a better idea of what I am doing wrong. Thank you.

"A DEVIL'S HARVEST"

Los Angeles Detective, John Atlas, is the main enemy of the Jamaican drug operators in and around the city. He relentlessly battles them and is about to drive them out of existence.

Atlas' son has been in a coma for some time because of an overdose of a new, extremely dangerous drug, "Heaven's Door." The son's condition has created a new conflict with his ex-wife as well as a feeling of his own inadequacy for allowing it to happen.

Early in the story, his partner of eleven years is murdered by the drug dealers. This increases Atlas' will to destroy the gangs-- and it's happening. Drug dealer after drug dealer is being shut down with Atlas and the police seemingly winning their battle, until...

One of the last Jamaican dealers makes a deal with the devil who transforms the dealer into a supernatural being to eliminate both his rivals and the police.

The dealer is the one who introduced Heaven's Door to the street, which is heaping havoc on the residents of the city. Its wide distribution and apparent protection from being destroyed baffles everyone until Atlas meets the Jamaican in a face-to-face showdown.

A horrific battle ensues in which Atlas is severely injured but detroys the Jamaican and his unearthly power and sends the devil packing. Without the dealer, Heaven's Door is slammed shut.

WEDDING NIGHT

A 26 year old virgin enjoys "wedding day-type" activities when the man she saved herself for shows up fat, stupid…and married. After an amazing day, she goes out looking to have sex for her "wedding night" and everything goes terribly wrong. Through a wacky night of weirdness, she finds the value in who she truly is and the man of her dreams as well.

It's a very commercial "fluffy" kind of romantic comedy with some screwball antics as well. If you like John Hughes movies from the 80's, you'll like WEDDING NIGHT.

NIGHT OWLS

It's a deeply, shallow ensemble drama/comedy about a group of teen-something oddballs who end up facing all their respected demons and come to grips with their futures at one crazy party on one crazy night in the middle of a small rural town.

It's SWINGERS meets CAN'T HARDLY WAIT meets AMERICAN BEAUTY with a little of the BIG CHILL floating around in it and to be honest that's as close as I can get to it and that doesn't even really nail it on the head. It's complicated situations with wild, three dimensional characters, witty dialogue, and true life drama. On top of that I threw in some drugs, some sex, and a lot of rock and roll. I'm overjoyed at how well it turned out.

Later.
