Ok, I'm tired of all these posts that tell all about the good screenplays. How about we make this chatroom a flamers chat room and just hash it out. Please feel free to make any comments (no profanities) about screenplays. Point out the negatives, and if you must point out the positives.

I've read so many good scripts, yes!!! There are so many really enjoyable scripts that should win, this will be a close contest with all of these talented writers. Just thought I would post that here...

Gray Dawn - it's about old people who blow up the statue of liberty in protest of social security cuts. Sure, no problem, for a $1million budget. Plus these are some agile seniors - 10 X as rugged as Rudy from Survivor.

This competition is going to be rough enough without adding cruelty to it. After all, what you hate, others may like...and vise-versa.

Giving criticism isn't cruel. If anything here your screenplay "blasted" will make you want to work harder with your grammar, or your writing abilities.

This room is a great place to put your opinion about a screenplay that you did not like. It then gives the author a chance to respond.

Okay -- this seems like at least a half serious Board (see my Topic -- Serious Posters Only Please) ...

I just started yesterday, and read "Old Enough to Bleed" -- oy. OY I say. It was flat, totally unbelievable and the ending was completely predictable. The stereotypical treatment, involving White Trash and (I think) Southern Baptists just rankled the hell outta me and the use of the 16 yr old girl who we are introduced to while peeing who later gets pregnant by the lead .. well, I mean, COME ON. I don't mean to knock the author, I really really don't. I'm an avid theatre director, and script analysis is something I thrive on -- and this script just needs SOOOO much work. Thin thin thin ... and if there were really people like these in the world, they'd be too damned dumb to live. And the gratuituous sex -- geez -- use story, huh? Sorry -- and I have to say that I hope like heck that the next dozen I read are better -- MUCH better. I've just started Children of the Night -- and already can tell that it can't be made for a million dollars. And the plot is predictable ... dialogue stilted ... characters wooden. I guess my mother was right -- if wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Did I say "oy"?

It is obvious you know nothing about No Matter What as there was NOTHING in the script about molesting little boys. How dare you say something like that without KNOWING the content of the script. No I did not write it, yes, I did review it. Maybe you should read before you put fingers to keyboard.

As for Vigilante Granny, which my team mate DID write, it ain't for Lifetime, baby. And I would much rather have a social awareness and consciousness than to sit around and flame for no reason, though that may be the only thing that will make you feel good about yourself, putting others' work and effort down. And I notice YOU didn't list the name of YOUR script so IT can be a part of this thread.

Artra, you said it right, his chosen name says it all!

Nazi,

All of the millions of people who died for your namesake and hero, and all of the millions who went to war to protect the world from your madman hero and your madnam namesake -

Well, you must be very proud of yourself for chosing an eye-catching way to get attention.

TOO BAD YOU JUST CAN'T SIMPLY USE REAL TALENT OR REAL SINCERITY TO GET ATTENTION.

Double YEAH! Nazi, go home! Even if you didn't like a script, or if it was the worse thing in the world, keep your mouth shut. I bet your writing wasn't so hot when you first started either! Maybe it's still not.
PLEASE! NO ONE pay attention to that idiot.

Hey, NaziCriminal! Not to demean your choice of a nametag or anything, but you should know:

Tim Foote said once in Time magazine, "Everyone needs an editor." He was commenting on the fact that Hitler's original title for "Mein Kampf" was "Four-and-a-half Years of Struggle against Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice." Try fitting that on a billboard.

Guess old Adolph couldn't stand editors. Guess that's why he turned into such a poor loser (LOL). Okay, maybe I am demeaning your choice of a nametag...

Moonwind, your forgetting one thing, he'd have to be able to read! you'd need to rewrite everything in crayon and add lots of stickman pictures to get anything across to this kid.

This isn't criticism of any one story or author, but...

Can those of you submitting screenplays please, please, PLEASE use a spell checker, and then re-check it the old fashioned way? And while we're at it, check your grammar, too. And use proper formatting. And think about using active voice, rather than passive. It just makes reading the script easier.

Thanks.

Keep these posts coming. Rememeber, this is a game, and you must win. Form alliances and what not. Destroy the competition. Fight!

Unfortunately, for No Matter What, I transposed the titles, strike by comment. Sorry

But FIGHT!

If, Nazi, you did not mean to use your name the way it is now, all you have to do was go to your profile and chance it.

Bullshit is bullshit in any language, in any forum.

AND ATTENTION FORCING PLOYS, NO MATTER WHAT THE REASONS, WILL NEVER TAKE THE PLACE OF REAL TALENT.

Arta, nice language. Anyways, where did you get that I did not mean to use my name the way I did. Maybe you are the one who cannot read.

And now that I think about it, maybe NC actually gave Vigilante Granny a backhanded complement - Lifetime (movies do get made and shown there), Taking back the streets (we see it happen in real life, and by little old ladies at that), Social awareness on our side (beats the heck out of trying to overthrow social awareness). Maybe my teammate and I owe him a thank you - nah, he wouldn't get it!

I don't understand what you were getting at...first of all, I am an 18 year old girl. Writing is my life, and I am a good writer, (I work for People magazine.) I put a lot of heart and soul into that movie. It is meant to be a story about a touching and powerful friendship. It is sickos like you who get something perverse out of my movie. There is one scene in which Joe plays basketball with the local kids. I don't understand where you get any molestation inuendos from that. Grow up.
