I feel kind of old. I'm 32 with a couple of young kids at home (a 3 year old boy and a 1 year old boy)...anyone else like that or am I the 'grandpa' of the contest?

Sorry Typo, you're the oldest know writer here! And we all know who you are. Greenlight knows who you are.

How can you even type with arthritic hands?

I'm 30.

But a good story: I was in a writing group and we were all introducing ourselves. And I said I felt behind because I'm starting at 30 and then a women said, "try it at 40." AND then another woman said, "it's not so bad at 50."

I was floored. This is IN hollywood. Don't despair!

I'm 28. Almost 29. Just had a baby boy August 26- thankyouverymuch, I am quite the proud daddy.

Feeling young and randy with all you old farts out there. Seriously- have you ever met anyone under 25 who had anything interesting to say? There is a reason you can't go to bars until you are 21- Us old people can't stand being around you little punks and its our only safe haven.

You can call me a prick now- but I'm a patient man... In a few years, if you manage to live long enough, you'll see it from my point of view.

"Shit," you'll say, "I'm damn lucky no one strangled me when I was that young."

Or- you'll be in denial- "Kids these days- I was NEVER THAT bad..."

But you were. Are. And that is OK. I was a jackass too, once upon a time. Still am, actually. But I've gotten better at it.

Oh, woe is me. I'm only a whole twenty years old and I haven't experienced anything. Do me a favor BadDavid, don't generalise. You don't know a thing about me or what I've been through. You don't know what I've seen or done. Don't turn this into a fricken "Good will hunting" spew either. I'm not a kid that "knows", everything about nothing. I've lost everything I've ever held dear, everything. You say that you gained a son, well good for you. I lost a wife. A woman I loved and still love even though she left me. I loved her more than I could possibly love anything, and she looked me in the face...right into my eyes and split my soul into tinie weenie little peices all over the floor of my life. And that's not even the worse thing. So don't tell me I don't know shit, pal. I know what I know. Interesting or not.

Steel- sheesh, man. Cry me a friggin' river. And here I thought you were cool 'cause you quoted Star Wars.

Everybody has a tragedy, man. You don't know me, either. Life ain't always been rosey- that is part of the reason I'm happy to be the age I am- I hated my early 20's. I can't wait for my 50's- though I'm not in a big hurry. The trip is the goal, you know?

Being a victim of a bad time doesn't make you an interesting person, and doesn't make your point of view any more valid than it would otherwise be.

Anyone who says, "I should know, because life has crapped on me," doesn't have a clue. If you use your trajedies to define you as a person, you loose the perspective neccisary to appreciate the good things destined to come your way.

I believe age is a badge. I'm proud to be the age I am, and I admire my elders. Most young people (and yes, this is a generalization- defining any group of people is always done with generalizations) are too self involved and too self centered to really be worth anything.

In fact, most of them are only worth their POTENTIAL. In other words, they aren't worth anything as is, they are only worth something because of what they will become.

Don't take that to mean that you aren't a worthwhile human being. You are, I'm sure. Definately have more than air upstairs. And I am also very sure you find yourself to be very interesting. You'll just be alot more interesting in a few years.

One last thing- why does that piss you off? Doesn't it make you happy to know that life isn't over at 20? Don't you like the idea of growing and improving as the years go by? Don't you want to be a better man at 30 than you are right now? Don't you want to be even better than that when you are 40?

Or have you bought the myth that YOUTH is the most precious commodity? Trust me- and I speak now trying to be a friend- you'll be much happier wearing your years and your scars with pride.

Ok. I'll make this post short and to the point.

I know I will know more with time.
I'm anything but the victim of my curcumstance.
My point is that my sum is more than that of my years.
A person isn't a number.
And I think you're one hell of a guy, I don't know what type. But what ever it is you're a shining example.
You're only as old as you fell. (yes it's cliche, but what the hell)
You shouldn't generalise.

And that's my point.

P.S. Let me tell you the story of a girl, who cried a river and drowned the whole world. She looked so sad in photographs, but I absolutely love her ........ when she smiles.
Sorry couldn't resist.

What the hell started this anyways?? Oh, wait don't tell me. I remember. baddavey stuck is foot in my mouth.

Wow! This is better than 'Big Brother'! And now it's time for a commercial break...

~~~ MENTALLY UNSTABLE ~~~,~'~ .. . <@
Length: 99pages
Genre: Suspense/Horror/Phsycological Thriller
My story: I wrote this in less than three weeks, specially for the contest.
Plot: ARENA is five years old, the epitome of innocence. She lives in an apartment with her mother. One night Arena's mother is KILLED, the murderer unknown. Arena lives with the body for over a week. She grows into a teenager, wreckless and defiant. After her grandmother dies, she lives on the streets of Miami, her MIND slowly deteriorating. She sees creatures and meets the FREAKIEST people... But all is not bad, she buys a MONKEY. You'll be suprised, this one is very unpredictable.
Read it now so you can shout out what's gonna happen next at the movie theater!
I'm 28 and I would imagine those of you in your thirties have a lot more insight into life than I as I might with someone younger. I can see a significant change in the way I was then and how I saw life and how I am now.
However, I still think the younger people have fresh ideas. Maybe they need more experience or maybe they have been writing longer than you, who is to say? Every age has something to offer.
By the way Bad David, I'm sure your parents or people in their generation thought they were never as bad as you. You and I are the same age and I agree and I look at the younger generation with revulsion. Their music and style it's disgusting, the more casual drug use. When I was in school you never really saw drugs but now you're lucky if you don't.
It's just that stereotyping a generation is wrong there are the good and the bad in each with all different life experiences.
Steel_Linx: You are passionate, fiery, skeptical, vicarious AND you know full well how to push buttons. So I guess that makes you very smart as well. And I'm dying to get inside your mind.
I would love to read your script. What's the name of it?
BadDavid, your irony seems lost on steel_lynx. You tried. Nice try.
Steel_Lynx, BadDavid is a good man.
We all get fucked. We all cry. It can start real early in our lives. Pain and despair romantically embraced can addict a soul to remorse; what a waste. Laughter heals, long cathartic peals, great guffaws, and another love in time. And everybody knows something.
