Yeah, just like Kelly on Survivor. That would be great. So, close to having your film made, but not quite there. Seriously, I know what you are getting at, but I bet nobody will touch (or get in touch with) second place (or lower) until after #1's film comes out and is a success. I bet that most people who matter (the people in the industry who call the shots) are laughing at all of this right now. They don't think this thing will really work out. We have to prove them wrong and really vote for the best script (not neccessarily our own) that will be the best film (regardless of "minor" format violations), so that the rest of us have not wasted our time. If #1's is any good, they'll be after everyone. That's what I think. IP: Logged |

Think about it this way. Back when MTV held their first "Who wants to be a VJ?" contest, Jesse won and Dave came in 2nd place. A few months later, Jesse was out on the street and Dave still had a job at MTV. IP: Logged |

according to the rules, the ten will be narrowed down to 3, then 1. This will probably be the 1st episode. i'd say expect calls if you make the top 30, everyone is looking for the next great script. This contest is really high pub. Shoot, I got calls from prodcos just from making the finals of a really small screenwriting contest in Pohdunk. /c. IP: Logged |

Seriously, The thought of having a SERIES about ME is truly frightening. I mean, I've watched the Real World. People are merciless. I'll take second prize any day. And I definitely think the top ten will get calls to have their scripts bought. Think about it, here is a weeding out machine for every studio out there to find good screenplays. Think about how many they must have to go through a year? they can just read the top ten/twenty/whatever and say "yep, we want THAT." Also, I think the winning movie is a guaranteed hit because the final decision is done by the Greenlight personnel. And they know their shit. IP: Logged |

What really freaks me out is that my budget has 1 million dollars in the rear view mirror. I would be happy to make the top 10. You're right. This thing is getting bigger and bigger every day. This is the ultimate survivor show. I know I can survive on paper, pen and ribbon. I had to out in L.A. IP: Logged |

To bbay: Laughing at us? The producers of greenlight just got a thousand people to submit scripts and a thousand people to weed through those scripts. All for free. It's good business when you can get people to work for free. As far as for finishing second--that's losing, unless of course, it's followed by a phone call saying, "Hey, why make your movie for mil, when I'll pay you a mil for your script." Gotta dream big, don't yah. Boogie Woogie IP: Logged |
