New Look PGL Turns to Community
No, you're not lost. You've definitely come to the right place. In fact, it's never been more right than it is now. Welcome to the new-look PGL, where it's all about you.
Gone are the dark hues, outdated stories, and news about old contests that you are having trouble still caring about. Say goodbye to the rickety user interface, and the unnecessarily long registration process.
We've undergone a major face-lift here at PGL, and we think you're going to be happy with it. Once the initial contest ended, we worried that you were not coming back. But we underestimated the strength of our community, built entirely of creative people and talented artists. Many of you continued to return to the site, if only to keep up with other fellow members of the community to ask for advice, offer an opinion, or touch base with newfound friends.
With that in mind, the new site is geared toward you, the Community. Log on for news and updates about fellow PGLers and the film industry at large. We will keep you up to speed on PGL success stories, pertinent dates and events on the PGL calendar, and alerts to when new contests begin. Project Greenlight will always be a place to get feedback on your work, and to offer your development exec skills to others by reading theirs.
In its most successful form, PGL will be a viable and legitimate resource for anyone and everyone who is considering a career in writing, filmmaking, or any piece of the creative process that goes into that. Our "Community" section features "Resources," an aggregate of links to other communal and practical sites, and a "how-to" section that will build over time to offer tips and tools on getting your movie made. We also hope to feature a "Classifieds" section where you can market yourself and hawk your wares, or tap into the plethora of talent in the community to find a DP, an editor, a costume designer, or whomever you need. The Community section will be a place that grows with time, effort, and feedback from its users.
Our "Productions" section will feature the spoils of our growing stable of contests, large and small. Come Winter 2001, HBO will bring you into the life of Pete Jones and onto the set of Stolen Summer in a documentary-style TV series, and PGL will dig even deeper to get the real scoop.
But we also will look to you, the creative ones, to help us help you. We want to hear your stories. Look for our "mini-contests," where we will call on you to send us your tales, your words, your thoughts, anything.
PGL is designed to be a reflection of the people who visit it every single day. We encourage each and every one of you to find your voice, and share it with your community.
So welcome back, and enjoy.
