What advice can you give those trying to break into the "industry?"
Listen to others, especially those with experience. They know more than you. Don't be a hero; when you're a hero it usually means you screwed up first. Be patient.
Please describe your job for those who might not know what a Best Boy Grip is.
I micro-manage gear, run errands and assist the Key Grip wherever needed. Listen, and obey; always regard safety on set a #1 priority.
Can you share any tricks of the trade that help you work faster/cheaper/better?
Listen, don't brag; don't be a loud mouth, have proper knowledge and proper equipment. This equals faster, cheaper, better.
What's the best lesson you've learned in regards to working in Hollywood?
I've never worked in Hollywood, unless you mean Hollywood, FL.
What advice would you give to writers on how to craft a script that addresses practical production issues?
Lots of car chases followed by explosions can make things go smoothly. Also, the sound loves it when all the filming takes place near an airport.
