What attracted you to the Entertainment Industry, and what was your first job or big break in the business?
I started working on film because I love popcorn. It seemed like a good place to start. "Home Alone" was my first film experience.
What is the biggest challenge you faced trying to break into the industry, and how did you overcome it?
I had to kill off the old guys in the Union so there would be room for me.
What advice can you give those trying to break into the "industry?"
Firstly, get comfortable with killing people. It will help get you jobs and keep jobs.
Please describe your job for those who might not know what a Set Electrician is.
I move heavy objects for a living. I'm a professional mover. We empty the truck, plug in the lights, and then fill the truck back up again.
Can you share any tricks of the trade that help you work faster/cheaper/better?
No tricks, learn the trade.
Please illustrate the way the performance of your position can help or hurt a movie. Name a movie that you've seen (or worked on) that we could view and understand the difference between a good job and a bad job.
This is very difficult to explain. I am only a grunt in a large army of grunts. If I don't perform, I get fired. It's pretty simple. Don't be late, be early. Work smart, not hard.
What advice would you give a director on how to make production easier?
Take to others' suggestions with a grain of salt.
